Things To Do On A Rainy Day

Grey skies and pouring rain can sometimes spell “no fun” to children. Some kids feel trapped indoors, especially on a non-school day, but it shouldn’t feel that way. There is a way to beat the rainy day blues and it involves indoor activities that are fun for everyone. Here is a list of our favorites.

  1. – Rainy Day Art
  2. Everyone in your home will have a different view of what a rainy day looks like to them. Why not encourage each person to draw a picture of the weather? How about a picture of their favorite indoor play space, Scooter’s Jungle? Paper, crayons and other art supplies will make this possible. You may also discover that a young artist in your family has a very interesting take on what a cloudy, gloomy day is to them.

  3. – Bake Something Together
  4. Getting the family into the kitchen to bake a fun treat shouldn’t be hard. Especially if it is a treat that they can enjoy as soon as they come out of the oven and cool off. Cookies are always a good choice and by having your children pitch in on the tasks they can handle, an afternoon of baking cookies can help remove the rainy day blues. Try making them in the shape of Scooter from Scooter’s Jungle.

  5. – Play Dress Up
  6. If your children are on the younger side you can have a good time indoors by letting them pick out something from your closet to wear. Playing dress-up is fun and encourages using one’s imagination. Add an extra fun element to dressing up with a fun fashion show where each child gets to ‘model’ their chosen outfit. Pretend the fashion show is taking place at Scooter’s Jungle.

  7. – Go Old School
  8. Board games, puzzles and card games are a standard go-to in many households. The reason for that is they are always a fun way to pass some time. These games are also perfect for when the weather outside is not exactly good for tanning or any other activity. Just for fun, try playing a board game with new rules that your children make up as they play. You’ll never look at Monopoly the same again.

  9. – Head Out To An Indoor Play Place
  10. Scooter’s Jungle and other indoor play places are a great place to work off some of that pent up energy that would have been used outdoors on a non-rainy day. Just load up the family vehicle during available open play hours (Check out their store calendars for available event times, which are at different times for each Scooter’s Jungle location) and take everyone to play on the inflatables, slides and other fun pieces of equipment that will make everyone forget about the rain for a while. Indoor playgrounds, like Scooter’s Jungle, provide places to stay dry when it rains AND have an awesome time burning off energy and leaving your child tired and happy. rain for a while.
