Fun Halloween Party Ideas for Kids in Santa Clarita

Costumes, Games, and a Whole Lot of Fun!

SeasonalOctober 6, 20268 min read

Pumpkin patches are open, the costume aisle at Target is picked clean by the second week of the month, and every kid in the Santa Clarita Valley is counting down the days. October is a big deal around here, and a Halloween party is one of the easiest ways to make it even bigger. Below are our favorite Halloween party ideas kids Santa Clarita families can actually pull off, whether you are hosting a few friends at home, planning a class party, or booking a private indoor venue like ours so somebody else handles the mess. We have grouped the ideas by what matters most to parents: costumes, games, food, decorations, and how to keep things fun without scaring the little ones.

Join Us for Halloween Fest on Friday, October 16

Fri, Oct 164 to 8 PMParade at 6 PM

Want the Halloween party without planning one? Bring the whole crew to Halloween Fest @ Scooters Jungle on Friday, October 16, from 4 to 8 PM. All of our arenas will be open for play, costumes are encouraged, and every kid is invited to march in our Halloween Parade at 6 PM, with something special waiting for the winner.

Included with entry: spooky tattoos, 3D fidget toys, paint and create, a slime bar, balloon art, cookie decorating, and squishies, plus free sample treats like cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, crafted soda, and lattes. Food from our menu is available for purchase, and local vendors will be on site all evening.

Admission is $25 per child and includes one free adult, with additional adults at $10 each. This event cannot be combined with other promotions or offers. Check out the full flyer on our Instagram.

Start With a Theme That Fits the Age Group

Halloween covers a lot of ground, from friendly pumpkins to full haunted house, and the right version depends entirely on who is coming. For preschoolers and kindergartners, keep it bright and silly: smiling jack-o-lanterns, friendly ghosts, black cats, and candy corn colors. For kids in second grade and up, you can lean into glow-in-the-dark, spooky forest, mad scientist, or monster mash territory. Tweens often want something with a little edge, like a zombie survival challenge or a mystery to solve. If you want more inspiration on building a party around a theme, our guide to kids birthday party themes in Santa Clarita has ideas that translate easily to October.

Costume Ideas and a Costume Parade

Costumes are the main event, so build the party around them. Ask every guest to come dressed up, then open with a costume parade so each kid gets a moment in the spotlight. Hand out silly awards instead of a single winner: Most Likely to Glow in the Dark, Best Homemade, Funniest, Scariest Smile, and so on, so nobody leaves empty-handed.

One practical tip from years of hosting parties: make sure costumes are built for play. Long capes, oversized masks, and dangling accessories get in the way on a slide or a zipline. Encourage comfortable costumes kids can run in, and remind guests to bring socks. Socks are required in our arenas, and a pair of orange or striped Halloween socks makes a great party favor.

Halloween Games Kids Actually Want to Play

Skip the games that need a lot of adult explaining and go for ones that get everybody moving:

Mummy Wrap Relay

Teams race to wrap one player in toilet paper from head to toe.

Pumpkin Bowling

A small pumpkin as the ball, empty paper towel rolls painted like ghosts as the pins.

Monster Freeze Dance

Play a Halloween playlist, freeze in your scariest pose when the music stops.

Eyeball Spoon Race

Ping pong balls with drawn-on eyeballs balanced on spoons.

Spider Web Walk

A yarn “web” strung between chairs that kids have to crawl through without touching.

Glow Scavenger Hunt

Hide glow sticks around the room and turn the lights down.

If you host with us, most of the entertainment is already built in. Ninety minutes of unlimited play on slides, ziplines, inflatables, and sports courts means you only need one or two themed games for the private dining portion of the party.

Easy Decorations That Look Like You Tried Hard

You do not need a garage full of animatronics. A few well-placed items do the work: orange and black balloons in bunches, paper bats taped in a swarm up a wall or across a doorway, a cluster of real pumpkins on the table, and battery-operated string lights in orange or purple. A roll of black tablecloth and a few plastic cauldrons filled with snacks finish it off. If you want someone else to handle the table, our private party packages include an Over the Top upgrade with balloons, fun bags, and table covers so you can walk in and start celebrating.

Balloons

Treats and Snacks Without the Total Sugar Crash

Kids will get plenty of candy on October 31, so the party food does not need to be all sugar. A few ideas that look festive and still fill them up:

  • Pizza, always a winner, served as “monster pizza” with olive eyes.
  • Clementines with a green marker stem drawn on top to look like mini pumpkins.
  • Bananas with chocolate chip eyes as little ghosts.
  • Pretzel sticks dipped in white chocolate as witch fingers.
  • Apple slices with peanut butter and mini marshmallow teeth as monster mouths.
  • A cupcake decorating station with orange frosting, sprinkles, and candy eyes.

Our Super package upgrade adds fresh pizza and drinks to any private party, which covers the main course so you can focus on one fun dessert.

Party Favors That Beat Another Bag of Candy

Parents appreciate favors that are not candy, and kids still love them. Glow sticks, Halloween stickers, mini pumpkins they can decorate at home, temporary tattoos, spider rings, and small bubble wands all work. Pack them in orange paper bags with a ghost drawn on the front and you have a favor table ready in ten minutes.

Not-Too-Spooky Ideas for Toddlers and Preschoolers

Little ones love Halloween right up until something jumps out at them. Keep the under-5 crowd on the friendly side: pumpkin colors, happy ghosts, and lots of sensory play like a bin of dried black beans with hidden plastic spiders to find. If you are planning a party for this age group, our JR! Arena & Dining is designed for ages 5 and younger, with a mini zipline, toddler-sized slides, soft play structures, and an imagination zone, all in one space with the dining area, so tiny guests never leave your sight. Families with kids ages 2.5 to 4 can also ask about our Little Explorers program, which runs weekday mornings for structured play and early learning.

Big-Kid Halloween Thrills

Older kids want a challenge, and that is where our Ultimate Arena shines. Built for ages 6 and older, it features an indoor vertical dash course, a giant indoor slide, a sports court, air hockey, ping pong, and the Laser Lite Game Room, which feels made for a Halloween party. Set up a timed obstacle run and crown the fastest “ghost” of the group. For a crowd of kindergartners through third graders, the Village Arena for ages 8 and younger has a two-story mega play structure, zipline, and indoor slide that keep the energy high from the first minute.

Why a Private Indoor Venue Makes Halloween Planning Easy

Anyone who has planned an October party in Santa Clarita knows the weather is a gamble. We get 90-degree afternoons one week and Santa Ana winds the next, and by the end of the month it is dark before dinner. A backyard full of paper bats and balloons does not survive a windy afternoon. Indoors, none of that matters.

Every party at Scooter’s Jungle Valencia is 100 percent private, which means your group has the arena to itself for 90 minutes of play followed by 45 minutes in your own private dining room. A dedicated party host handles setup, keeps things running, and cleans up afterward, and the guest of honor gets a crown or tiara. You bring the kids and the costumes. We handle everything else. You can check open dates on our party availability calendar and read the step-by-step in our guide to planning a private birthday party in Valencia.

Party in a Box

Halloween Birthday Parties: Double the Celebration

If your child has an October birthday, you already know the struggle of competing with Halloween. Our advice is to stop competing and combine them. A Halloween birthday party gives every guest a reason to dress up, the decorations practically plan themselves, and a costume cake is far more memorable than a standard sheet cake. Book a weekday slot if you can, since weekday pricing is lower and October weekends fill quickly.

Group Halloween Events for Schools, Teams, and Clubs

Halloween is a natural fit for a class party, a sports team celebration, or a scout troop event. If your group wants to raise money while having fun, our fundraisers are fully private events where your organization receives up to 30 percent of qualifying admission sales. A Halloween costume night fundraiser is one of the easiest events a PTA can promote, and we create a custom flyer to help spread the word. For more ideas on group celebrations, see our post on back-to-school celebration ideas for kids in Santa Clarita, which covers class parties and team kickoffs that work year-round.

Halloween Week Open Play

Not ready to host a full party? Bring the kids in for Open Play during Halloween week instead. Open Play sessions run on a rotating schedule with no reservation needed, and we often post themed sessions and Toddler Time events in October, so keep an eye on our calendar for dates and details. Pricing varies by event and is always listed with each session. It is a great way to burn off some candy energy before or after the big night.
